Mosquito Rules

PLEASE SPEAK TO THE OTHER COACH PRIOR TO THE GAME TO CLARIFY RULES

  1. Games start at 6:30 p.m.

  2. Regulation games shall be 6 innings.

  3. Pitching is permitted and a pitcher may pitch a maximum of 3 innings in a calendar day and 6 innings in a calendar week.

  4. The pitcher may pitch from the "set position" without coming to a full stop before delivery.

  5. No "balk balls" may be called against the pitcher.

  6. The catcher MUST wear a standard catcher's mitt.

  7. Standard running shoes or shoes with moulded rubber cleats (soccer style shoes) may be used.

  8. Shoes with metal cleats are prohibited.

  9. Bats shall not be more than 32" in length. They shall not be more that 2 1/4" in diameter at the barrel.

  10. ALL players MUST wear an approved batting helmet with a working chin strap.

  11. Catchers MUST wear full gear (full catcher's helmet, chest protector, shin guards, face mask with throat protector and a athletic support cup).

  12. The standard rules of baseball shall apply with some exceptions:

    1. Each team shall consist of 15 uniformed players.

    2. Should one team not be able to field a full team of nine players, and the opposing team can, the game is forfeited. The team may then play an exhibition game.

    3. Before the game begins, the coach must give a copy of their batting line-up to the coach of the opposing team.

    4. All players in attendance at league games in which their team is participating must play at least 3 complete innings of a 6 inning game.

  13. 3 outs or 4 runs will constitute an inning (except that a team may score unlimited runs in its last turn a bat.)

  14. All players will bat, in the order they are placed on the lineup sheet, whether they are on the playing field or on the bench in any given inning.

  15. When a pitcher is in contact with the pitcher's rubber, with the ball in their possession, base runners shall not leave their bases until the pitched ball has crossed home plate.

  16. When a runner does leave their base, before the pitch has crossed home plate, the runner shall be called out, the ball is dead and no pitch shall be called.

  17. On a dropped third strike, the batter is out and may not become a base runner.

  18. Regulation playing field shall be laid out in agreement with measurements provided here.

  19. The distance between all bases shall be 60 ft.

  20. The distance between the point of home plate and the pitcher's rubber shall be 46 ft.

  21. The batter's boxes shall be 3 ft. wide and 6 ft. long and the inside lines shall be parallel to and 6 " away from the plate. It shall extend 3 ft. in front of and 3 ft. behind the center of home plate.

  22. The pitcher's mound shall be raised to a gradual slope to a height above the levels of the base paths of 6"
